Medium priority
RPN 1-1000, done client-side, nothing sent anywhere. The High/Medium/Low band above is general reference, not the official AIAG-VDA Action Priority table, your org's FMEA procedure governs the real threshold. For ranked failure modes generated from your actual design, run it in the full workspace.

What is RPN in FMEA?
RPN stands for Risk Priority Number. It's calculated as Severity × Occurrence × Detection, each rated 1 to 10, giving a score from 1 to 1000 used to rank which failure modes need attention first.
What is a good RPN score?
There's no universal cutoff, it depends on your organization's FMEA procedure. As a general reference, many teams treat RPN ≥ 200 as high priority, 100 to 199 as medium, and below 100 as lower priority. The AIAG-VDA Action Priority table (High/Medium/Low based on Severity first, not RPN alone) is the current industry-preferred method for automotive work specifically, check what your process requires.
Is this the same as the AIAG-VDA Action Priority table?
No. This calculator computes the classic RPN (S × O × D) with a simple general-reference band. AIAG-VDA's newer Action Priority method ranks Severity first, then Occurrence, then Detection, and doesn't multiply them together. If your process specifically requires AIAG-VDA Action Priority, use that table, not raw RPN.
How is this different from doing it in Excel?
Same math, faster to use for a quick check, and it runs entirely in your browser, nothing is sent anywhere. For a full FMEA with AI-identified failure modes ranked automatically from your actual design, upload a file to the full FMEA generator instead of scoring each row by hand.
Does ForgePilot store what I enter here?
No. This calculator is fully client-side, the S, O, D values and result never leave your browser or reach ForgePilot's servers.
